Woodland Family Funtime

It's prettttty often that I'm labeled a cynic or a pessimist or a Debbie Downer or any other slightly pejorative synonymous term (shocking, I know). But I feel like that isn't a truly accurate portrayal of who I am these days. I don't suffer from depression the way I used to for years, which is a big contributing factor, and I'm sure I'll always retain my air of stark realism (sometimes mistaken for cynicism), but on the whole I'm a pretty happy and grateful individual. Really. Smiles for miles. I swear.

And how could I not be when I get to share a perfect weather Sunday out in the Florida woods with my favorite mutts? Steven got back to town last week and I finally, finally got to take him to one of my favorite nearby short-but-sweet trails, which should look familiar to you if you read here. It was a sunny day with a sickeningly sweet high of 68, the birds were chirping, the trail wasn't underwater, and we had a grand time relaxing and playing and enjoying each others' company in such a beautiful setting.

While we were walking the trail, I couldn't shake a feeling of family. I mean, that makes sense being that Steven and I are engaged and all, but I've never been married before so it's easy to still equate what we have as a romantic relationship rather than a legitimate family. So this was one of the first times that it just hit me hard that this is my family that I've built, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. And yes, I'm absolutely including my dogs in this family talk, because, well, do you know me at all? They're my children. We're a family. And I'm so thankful for that.

I didn't really have much else to write, but Steven would kill me if I didn't post and give him credit for this nice macro shot of a spiny orb weaver..

haha, love the expression on the left-side dog in the top pic (Digby? Tank? I never remember which is which) - is he ok with Fozzie hogging the limelight? He looks so unimpressed there.
Your family is awesome, so continue to build it with positive influences and things that fill life with joy, and long may it continue to make you happy.

Thanks for the sweet comment. That's Tank on the left.. I caught him on a blink and he looks hilarious. And I don't think he's too worried about Fozzie, they all get along really well.

Hi there,

Fozzie looks like she,s singing and Tanks looks like he thinks she is off key! You have some happy pets!

I bought a juiceer, thought I'd give it a try. I watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" this morning. I know I couldn't do 60 days.

Have a wonderful Holiday!

Patti

Any chance you can tell us where this trail is? My boyf and I explored many Central Florida trails while I lived in Orlando and would love to know which one this is!

Nova- It's tiny!

Mahatmahatma- shoot me an email and I'll let you know. I rarely post locations on here for personal reasons.
